I want 3 users to be able to edit picklists without having any other administrative access. I gave them access to the tools-->manage-->picklists menu item but any changes they make can only be seen by themselves and not other users.

Ive come across something like this before and did a sql update to make the modifyuser of the picklist item ADMIN which makes it visible to all users but its not feasible to do this every single time these 3 users edit a picklist.

Have i missed something in the permission process?

hi,
maybe you need to grant them access to SLX Administrator and assign an "administrative role" to them.
Uncheck all rights except "PickList Manager".

(plus install SLX Admin on their workstation)

Hope this helps

Hi Marty, thanks for youre reply. We were hoping to keep this confined to the client and avoid administrator access but the more it goes on the more it looks as though that isnt going to be possible.

You could always build something that allows this to happen.

For example, give them a new menu option which does the ModifyUser update for them (after they've done the picklist mods themselves).

We have an external picklist manager tool that does what you need.

You can contact me off line if you want to see a demo, or have questions.

Thanks for your help all but the powers that be have decided to go down the Administrative role route.

Thanks again.
