Multiple Instances Of The Same Form Open?Your last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

We are running SLX 6.2.6, and I have noticed that users can have multiple instances of the same form open simultaneously. For instance, users can have multiple instances of the Account main form open at the same time. Is SLX meant to work this way? I am questioning this because I would think SLX would check for an existing instance of a form prior to opening a new one. With how it is working now, there is unnecessary amounts of memory consumed by SLX. For example, we are running terminal services on a Windows 2003 host, and at times one instance of SLX will consume up to 1GB of physical memory. Any thoughts/tips would be appreciated.

Well ask your users if they've ever multi tasked in their life.....

and now you know why multiple Account, Contact, Opportunity views can be open concurrently in SLX 6.2.6.

It's actually quite useful.....

Multiple group\F8\listviews open at once can be very memory intensive....especially if they are all open to the "All Accounts" group.....

USer Training, shared machine courtesy to other users, SOP to shutdown when you are away from your desk for more than 20 minutes, etc. are all possibilities.

When a user has multiple instances of the same form open, they are not aware of this. Usage consists of a user opening SLX, then the user will select account, contact, or opportunity. If the user needs information on the same type of entity, they search for. If the user needs information on a different entity, they click the appropriate button and search for the entity in question, leaving the original form open below. Point being, it is not useful in our environment, it is quite the opposite.

It's working the way it was designed. If you want to prevent it, you'll have to customise, as far as I know.

I suppose I should have been more specific, because this is the kind of information I was looking for. Our installation of SLX has been overly customized to the point where I am not certain what are stock features, and what has been added.
