Well, i'm facing a problem. One of our users is not able to see some of the fields in the opportunities section (like products or description) while some others are able to view it. WHat is causing the difference?

I'm a beginner in this saleslogix, so can you please help me or guide me on the same?

Version of SLX? LAN or Web? Which form specifically?  Are you on the central office or a remote database? Is this user on a different team (see Workgroup Administrator) than the other users?

Please provide details about what they are no able to see.  Products is not a field.  When you say products are you talking about the products tab on the opportunity view or something else?

Description is a field but are you talking about the opportunity description field located on the opportunity detail screen or is it the opportunity description in a list view or maybe the product description?

I'm talking about the different fields in the Opportunity details screen.. Like the Manager name, address field etc.. so, its the description field located on the opportunity detail screen...

Modifying a user's team membership is done in the Administrator.  Try making the user a member of a team that does have the ability to see this information.

Yup, i've to try that see and see if its working. But, can i customize the views for a team or a user? Where is this done?
If different teams are having different views of say Accounts or Opportunities, where are the settings done?

Customizing Forms (is this what you are calling a view?) is done in the SalesLogix Architect.

You alter a form (called a Plugin), save it, and then can release it to different users.....the old one as well.

You can Save As....and store the form as a different name.....and release it to different users.....

in the SalesLogix Administrator you can select which Opportunity, Account, et al main view a specifc user sees........

I would recommend you take a class in SLX Development....at minimum buy a DevLogix book.

@RJ : See, I've altered forms and have released it. Its not about customizing forms in general, its about customizing forms in specific.

My two users are having different forms, though i checked the plugin history and saw that the latest is released to everyone. Thats where i confused. If the plugin is released to Everyone, then how come certain fields are missng for a user and visible for another.

I hope you now understood why I asked if there are any settings which control the forms appearance. I'm just a beginner in SLX and would be glad to attend any SLX development class, but sadly there arent any in my area. Thanks for suggesting the book. Let me try to get that book.

Synchronization may be a factor here.....if a user hasn't synched in the newly released plugin then they could well be staring at the old form.....

Also, if the user hasn't hit Ctrl-F5 or logged out of SLX to refresh their plugins, it doesn't matter if you've released the plugin to Everyone.....that user is still operating on their cached version of  the plugin.

We were all newbies once...some more frequently than others.....(that would include me).
