Hi Peeps,

Having some issues with a view i have created in SQL, I have had to add some more feilds to it - in the first instance I created the fields incorrectly (wrong datatype) and the Database manager showed it up as type 'n/a' - having noticed my error I dropped the table and recreated / reinserted the data which the view is basied on however the DB manager still wont recgognise the changed data type (still shows n/a as opposed to string etc etc).

Have even dropped the view (still showed in DB manager) and renamed (still showed) - what am i missing? Is there somewhere where i have clear definitions for views??

HELP!

Matt

PS. SLX V 7.5.1.1742 btw.

Actually there aren't Views for you in SLX.....

you create a DB Table in the DB Manager.....and ALL of the fields you want....that creates the entries in Resynctabledefs and SecTableDefs......and JoinDate, etc..... then you Create a bundle with the table in it for BACKUP! then drop the table and create the view in SQL Management Studio.......

Adding fields later on? You repeat the process all over again......

1. Install the bundle to restore the Table and resynctabledefs, sectabledefs, etc.

2. Add your addtional fields....

3. Create a backup bundle

4. drop the table in SQL Mgmt Studio....

5. create the view...

From what I recall, the DB Manager is not smart when it comes to views.

Once you have enabled a View, if you want to modify its schema you have to drop it from the DB Manager and then re-enable it.

Keep in mind that dropping it from the DB Manager will also drop it from the Database.

So, the steps would be as follow:

- Using SQL MAnagement Studio (if on MS SQL), get the Code for the View.

- Drop the view on SLX DB Manager

- Modify your view as needed via SQL Management studio.

- Once you are done with your changes, Enable it on SalesLogix via the DB Manager.

I thought you didnt have to do this in 7.5? Just enable the views?
