Hi everyone...I'm pretty new to the Saleslogix environment and have an error that is coming up fairly often...

The sales reps will occasionally call and tell me their SLX screen went blank, so they are pressing F5 to refresh their system. Upon doing that, they are getting kicked out of Saleslogix and an entry in the Event viewer shows the following:

Event Id: 4 An Error Occurred when trying to close a connection. The source is SlxLicenseListener.

I only found the following on Sage's website:

SlxLicenseListener.dll - listens on the license ping port (tcp: 51101 by default) for active clients.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you!

Linda can you provide what level of SalesLogix you are on? Also I assume this error is on the SalesLogix server's event log, is that the case?

Hi Kris,

We are currently running Saleslogix 6.0.1.1033. I see this error message in the Event log on our Saleslogix application server.

Thanks for asking!

Linda

Mike Spragg or another Business Partner could give you better specifics on this but your best move will be to upgrade to at least 6.1 but if you can, go for 6.2. It's a lot cleaner and easier to maintain, there aren't as many system Legacy views. From what I hear, 6.0 is a version that shouldn't be used if you are synchronizing in any way. I also question it as well as 5.0 as a version that Sage should provide FREE upgrade support for AT LEAST the next version up. I've heard nothing but pain from anyone using this version and every BP I know says "UPGRADE". Yet you have to be the one to PAY for another version because the one you have doesn't quite live up to the promises the version notes says it should?

Mike or another BP who has actually used and "supported" this version will be more of an authority on this but the only thing they would say differently is the reason to actually upgrade. I'm going off speculation where as he would be going off their own blood, sweat, and tears. I personally won't touch it but that isn't saying much since having been on 6.2 I won't touch any version lower for reasons of sanity.

Hi Linda,

Instead of looking at the server side, take a look at the event log on the client side. You might be able to get better information at the source.

Outside of that, I would also recommend upgrading.

Hi Jeremy - Thanks for the response. Earlier this week we had an update done on our network and that seems to have taken care of the problem...at least so far. I haven't heard of anyone having their Saleslogix screens go blank and I don't see any Saleslogix errors in the event log on the SLX App server.

On the upgrade note, we are very anxious to get upgraded to 6.2! Yes, I'd like to keep whatever sanity I have left!

Thanks again!
