Strange error messages

I have installed slx web components 6.2.3. The configuration checker for the site shows no errors. When I try to access the site from a browser (http://:1025/scripts/slxweb.dll/home), I first get the logon screen (with Enable active mail checked). Then it says "Loading SalesLogix" and finally, I get the message "Internal Application Error Infinite loop encountered during alternate Template substitution. blank blank"
Oddly enough, if I uncheck the Enable active mail, the error is "We apologize for the inconvenience, but we cannot complete your request for the following reason(s): The template "mainpagenoax" was not found".
Any idea where to start looking?
Thanks.

Did you apply all Web Content correctly?
After SP3 SLX introduced the "No ActiveX" option to the Web client, and a new page for it would've been the mainpagenoax. It seems possible that your actual Template files didn't get deployed, thus it cannot find the file for this template.
Alternatively, did you use a Template override? Just not sure about the whole "Template Substitution" message.

Thanks, Raul.
I guess I'm not sure what "apply web content" means. In Web Manager, I see numerous plugins listed. Within the base package, I see both mainpage and mainpagenoax. Only mainpage is active. I have activated manipagenoax and deactivated mainpage. I also unchecked the activex box on the logon screen. Now the error message is "Internal Application Error Infinite loop encountered during alternate Template substitution. blank blank".
It just keeps getting wierder.

Both pages should be enabled.
The fact that mainpagenoax was disabled may mean that you didn't activate the bundle's content correctly after deploying.

I know this thread is way old, but for future reference (if anyone actually will be using 6.2.x), but Raul is dead on - overrides will cause the problem listed. Remove the overrides and the problem should go away. I encountered this myself several years back. It was fixed in either a hotfix service pack.

Although the post isn't that old, seems like I just went Back to the Future!!!! (after finishing re-reading the thread and realizing I no longer support legacy web for any clients)!!!! |
