What to do with legacy customizations in 7.2 web client...Your last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

Is it possible to run the exisiting web client and the new web client in some kind of mixed mode? Or is the that case that if I want to upgrade to 7.2 and leverage the new application arch. I will need to recreated existing mods? I have not seen or heard much about this but I know others must be wondering the same. I have a couple clients with moderately modifed legacy web clients and would like to advise them of the updgrade path.
Thanks

During the last presentation I saw, they said that the legacy web forms will still work with 7.2.
Of course that was presented as a "see... the fact that we don't have a forms converter doesn't matter" )

Legacy web site will still be available, but mixed mode no. They are 2 different web sites and technologies. They would not be intermixed. If you are looking at suppporting the old web until a transition point then this will be doable. The upgrade path would be to go to the 7.2 web client and moving the customizations over to the new architecture. You will need to rewrite them I would thik.

Right on the money Mark!

One would have to re-write the customs to take advantage of the new web technology.

Thanks All. That is what I thought. I am actually happy to 'have' to leave the old web client behind to leverage the new technology. Some of my clients may not be so thrilled to pay to have the mods recreated, but it is what it is.

Steve,
As you probably already know, there's so much of the "plumbing" that's handled by new web that you find yourself not having to re-invent stuff or mess w/the low level junk.

Yes the new web is a great improvement - but wait until sp1 before developing in it if you can...!
