Urgent-Customer portal

can somebody tel me the steps how can i add fields in current form that is there in customer portal.rather how can i customize the customer service portal.want to add serial number lookup of asset owned and contract lookup
I tried to add the field on the form addportalTicket( ticket entity->form->addPortalTicket) but end up with the error and next time when i opened application architect in ticket entity form folder was blank.i think my VFS got corrupted.....
Would be nice if someone can revert back with solution asap...

maybe you have not referenced the lookup to accountproducts table correctly.
