OK. So AA has a memory leak and that sucks in the first place.

What really bothers me is that on XP you just need to minimize the window to reset the memory usage, but this doesn't work on on Vista.

Has anyone found any ways to control this memory leak whilst using Vista? I'm on Business (SP1) if that makes any difference.

I would love to be able to restore backups without having to try 20 times!

Cheers

AA is just buggy in general. When we were having issues with is Sage told us that when restoring backups the file names must not have any spaces in them as well as be placed into your based drive (C:\).

Seems silly to me but until they fix their programming try that...

slxguy,

The requirement to put backups in the root of a drive is due to core Windows functionality. You cannot have file names longer than 255 characters and this limitation includes the path. By putting the backups in a nested folder you are likely going to exceed 255 characters as the SalesLogix folder structure is fairly deep. This is not a defect nor does it have anything to do with the Application Architect.

David, I do not run Vista and I dont have a resolution to offer.

I realize a filename should not be more than 255 characters, however, Sage specifically told us on numerous occasions that a filename cannot have spaces in it that has me worried.

I dont believe this is the case. The stock product has spaces in folders and file names. Take the folder "SalesLogix Application Entities" and the file "SalesLogix Application Entities.T.package.xml" for example.

That being said, I make it a practice not to put spaces in file names but this is just a convention based on preference - I use underscores. This preference is nothing more than that - a preference.

However, why do spaces make you worry? Just stop using them if that is the case. Problem solved.

No resolution as yet, but I did manage to resolve this by rebooting my machine.

I wonder how AA will act under Windows 7...

Why do the SLX default backup VFS files contain spaces in them then.

David - why not run AA from the server? Ever since I'm started doing that (instead of building from my Vista Laptop which I'd rather do) I have not had only a 1/10 of the issues I had before.
