Process Orchestration

Is there some real world example of a custom workflow?
The only sample I see is in the SDK examples dir on the dvd and it is a really basic workflow with no functionality at all.
Anyone can point to a good example, possibly actually doing something usefull, maybe a sales process or something alike?
Watching the sample I can't figure out why I should prefer Process Orchestration over some event-triggered custom business rules, besides trusting Sage in that it's the right way to handle things...
