I have some very simple code inside an ascx that is displayed as a dialog

<script type="text/javascript">
alert("HELLO");
</script>

It won't run at all. Is there anything else that needs to be done, is this some limitation imposed by how dialogs are implemented in SLX, what?

IIRC, script tags in <head> section are not processed at all in case o Ajax calls.

You should rely on scriptmanager object to do this (watch for the RegisterClientScriptBlock method).

I'm not sure to be following you 100%. This script is not inside the head tag, it's right there mixed up with the ASCX html source of the control i'm displaying as modal dialog. As far as I know, ASCX controls don't even have head tags. I'm also not completely sure what you mean with that about AJAX calls. Is there an AJAX call issued when the dialog window opens?

AFAIK, an update panel uses the browser's AJAX support to open Iframes.
So I think that every single dialog opened in SLX Web is using an AJAX call (strictly speaking). And the browser is not firing onload events for ajax calls.

I really don't know about your particular problem, however.

Maybe we could check some code just to figure out what's going on? (maybe it's just some Javascript issue?)
