SLX Mail Merge Problems

Hello All,
I am trying to use the Mail merge feature of SalesLogix with a test account.
I have followed the PDF instructions on how to mail merge, and i have followed each step closely except for the person who i am mail merging to. At this point i am just mail merging to a single contact (myself) as a test.
I am receiving the following error message:
"Mail Merge encountered an error and cannot continue. Error requesting data from Clients. Unknown table passed to ExpandDataPaths: Outlook"
Please can anyone help with this |

| If you are not using version 7.5.2 (or at least testing it yet) then I recommend upgrading to this version as a lot of issues have been fixed. SendSLX works like a charm in this version. |

I am running version 7.2.2, and ironically it has caused more problems than the version 6 that i had running
Do you know what the reason for this error message is. Where does the failure lie in connecting itself with Outlook

That version is notoriously bad. I was never able to get it working...If it's just a test environment Id strongly urge upgrading.
That being said if I had to guess it sounds like there's an issue in the data it is passing back/forth from outlook or even SLX itself. |

Hello SLX guy,
Unfortunately, its not a test environment as its actually being used by a lot of my marketing colleagues
But it sounds like you could be right in the fact that theres an issue with the data, as i had been told that the Outlook profile could not correctly be configured with the SalesLogix.
So i did the following:
The Outlook profile was configured to be the same as the one in SalesLogix
SalesLogix Client - Tools - Options - Mail (tab) and select the appropriate email profile
Removing the signature from the template also
Correcting MS Word to be disabled as the email editor
But now im receiving the following:
New error message goes as follows:
Mail Merge encountered an error and cannot continue. The contact had an invalid or missing email address
As i am only testing the mail merge at the minute, i am only configuring the mail merge to myself. The template is pretty basic, when i only view the template after the mail merge. Then everything goes OK and i can see the fields filled in, in the correct positions in the template from SLX. But when i actually do click Send then i get the error of an invalid or missing email address.
I have checked this on SLX to ensure all the fields are correctly filled in, i am also saved as a contact on MS Outlook 2003 also. To my tests and checks, it seems that everything is fine but i cannot figure out why its now warning me of an invalid or missing contact detail/email address.
Can you shed any light on this one? Thanks so much for your replies. Greatly appreciated |
