OK, so we've upgraded to SP2 and all of a sudden all of the Exceptions we've put in place are now displaying in the pretty SalesLogix exception but with the following additional text prepended to the text of the Exception itself:

Error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException:

That means where we've used Validation Exceptions to inform the user of a missing field or an incorrectly filled field the useful message "This record cannot be saved until blah blah is filled in" now looks like a proper error and is scaring the users.
Does anyone have any ideas how to sort this out?

What type of exception are you using? I've got validation rules in place in 7.5.2, and they show up fine. Use the following for your exceptions:

throw new Sage.Platform.Application.ValidationException("Blah blah blah");

Yep. That's how we're doing it. The error seems to be of a Javascript nature, which is bizarre. The only thing I can think of is that some Javascript file is missing from the master or similar, or that one of the JS files was not correctly updated during the Upgrade.
Any idea which (if any) js is used for error handling?

I can tell you that the message box itself comes from the Ext js libraries.

One other thing - did you clear out the browser cache after the upgrade? I've had odd things happen post-upgrade until I cleared the cache.

Did you ever find a solution for this? We just upgraded a client from 7.5.1 to 7.5.3 and I am running into the same problem.

Unfortunately not. We took the decision to leave things as they were unless users complained about any particular messages - in which case we tried to convert as many as possible to standard SLX message boxes.

Personally, I would've liked to have spent a bit more time investigating the Ext files to see if the problem had crept in there somehow.

If you can't track down the error your best bet may be to use jQuery with LiveQuery in the Base.master and remove the leading text when the message appears. It's a bit of a fudge and doesn't really solve the problem, but it should cover the symptoms nicely.
