Hi all

We're on SLX 7.5.1 and we've got a strange situation. People keep losing tabs on the Account and Contact mainviews. So far it seems to be affecting only Custom Smartparts, although it has now started affecting the More Tabs tab, rather worryingly. Once a user loses it, it's gone forever. We've been using the role security to try and force the cached preferences to refresh with mixed results, but obviously this won't work on the More Tabs tab.

More important however is the fact that whenever this occurs it has the knock on effect of stopping other tabs and dialogs from working. The user will receive a SLX error stating something like:
"Sys.InvalidOperationException: Could not find UpdatePanel with ID 'ctl00_TabControl_element_ActivityList_update_panel_ActivityList'. If it is being updated dynamically then it must be inside another UpdatePanel."

Any idea what's causing this and how we can fix it? This did not occur during development, only since we have gone live with the product.

I have just had this happen to my system, did you ever find out what was causing the issue?

Not to worry, just found out the cause.

I deleted the profile under the configuration folder in the VFS and this has fixed the problem

Hi Tony

It's got something to do with the stored profile in the Virtual Filesystem Explorer. Go to VFS Explorer -> Configuration\Application_User\SlxClient\[username] then find the affected page, modify the tabworkspace XML file to remove the offending tab (if it is present) or add it in (if it's not). Redeploy, ask the user to log in.

If the tab was present and you've removed it, you'll then need to re-add it in and redploy again.

Essentially something goes wrong with these profiles and you need to forcibly reset them. If the above doesn't work try other ways of forcing these to refresh.

Hope that helps!

The easiest way I have seen to fix this is to remove the offending page (from the page editor), do a deploy. Re-add the page and then do another deploy.

Just remember that this needs to be done for every affected user. They'll need to refresh their profiles to detect the change.

So you remove it, deploy, ask all the affected users to login and go to the offending page; then you stick the tab back in the page, redeploy and ask them to all log in again.

If you have a lot of users affected this might be a pain, whereas deleting all the affected users profiles from the VFS explorer and redeploying once might just do it in one go.

However you do it, the important thing is to manually or forcibly update the user page profiles.
