Opportunities with No Description Web 7.5.2

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I didn't see any other post on it. A client brought it to my attention that for the opportunities without a Description, they are unable to open in web because the hyperlink is on the description field. They have a lot of records this way in the system as they got in the habit of creating them without a description before they used web. I think the obvious fix would be to force to enter a description, but they didn't seem too fond of that idea. They feel they should be able to open it without the description. Is there a way i can create the hyperlink on a different field for the "lookup results" group? Or can I add double click or right click to open functionality for this group? I can change the hyperlink in other groups, but that doesn't help when they search for an opportunity.
Thanks, Ronnie |

Ronnie:
This is what you need to do:
Create a new Group as Admin and make sure it contains the fields that they use the most for searches, as well as their preferred layout. On this new group, set the Entity Link to both the Description field, as well as a different field that may always be populated (e.g. Probability). Release this group to Everyone, and for each user, under Options set this group to be their "Default Lookup Layout" group (This is a new option found on the Groups tab). You could also change it globally by modifying the USEROPTIONS table.
After this is done, if the user is logged it, you will have to log out and back in. Then whenever they use the Lookup, it will use the newly created group as the foundation for the Lookup, which will then include the Entity Link on more than one columns.
Note: Make sure that you don't include any unintended Inner Joins on this group (for the Layout) as the Joins will get carried over and may affect your search results. |
