Referring to fields on smart parts
Posted: 14 May 10 8:35 AM
Hi
Can anyone please help me with how to refer to fields on smart parts within a main form?
Basically what I'm trying to achieve is, on the insert opportunity form, I need to check that the products and contacts smart parts have values within them before I allow the user to create the new opportunity. I'm looking at the form in Visual studio to customise the form 'on save' property but can't see how to check the smart parts.
Thanks
Ade

Hi,
You would check the entity property values as opposed to values on other smartparts. So for instance you want to check if they have a product, something like:
Sage.Entity.Interfaces.IOpportunity opp = (Sage.Entity.Interfaces.IOpportunity)this.BindingSource.Current;
if(opp.Propducts.Count < 1)
{
//They havent added a product, so exit save function: show a message or whatever..
return;
}
You can wrap these in validation business rules and call them if you do not want to edit the Save method directly...
Thanks,
Nick

Cheers Nick, it worked a treat.
We'd seemed to try similar ways...but not with the same success
Thanks
