What is the best way to initialize the SalesLogix web ApplicationContext for a site that exists outside SLX web?

I have added the Application Manager module to the site: as well as the following saleslogix configuration files:
ServiceHosts.xml
dynamicmethods.xml
application.xml
connection.config

When running the site, a call to Sage.Platform.Application.ApplicationContext.Current returns null. The Sage.Platform.Application.ApplicationContext.Current.Initizlize() method does seem to instantiate the object but is this necessary?

Finally, after initializing the context, calls to Sage.Platform.Application.ApplicationContext.Current.Services.Get() and Sage.Platform.Application.ApplicationContext.Current.Services.Get() both return null.

What am I doing wrong with the above? Is there any published information as to initialize and use SalesLogix Web APIs running a .NET site outside of SLX?

Thanks in advance

No published information on this that I am aware off, closest thing may be the Platform API.

Seems like you are up to some serious digging, would welcome any info if you get this working.
