Bundling from Dev to Live - quick question
Posted: 22 Jun 10 8:47 AM
Hi All, if i have done a development in our DEV environment looking at our DEV database that involved adding a new field to a database table in the development database, is there any way to bundle this field addition as well as the related smartparts etc in order for the Live database to automatically recognise and create the new field?
Or will we have to manually re-create the new field in the Live database?

Yes, and maybe....
I have had better luck adding schema changes via SLX windows bundles, this is specially true for those entities that need to be modified via the DB Manager.
Once that is out of the picture, you need to include your object definition into the Bundle.

Yes bundle the database changes via a standard "LAN" bundle. All other changes via the web (zip) bundle. Using the wizard and selecting a change date works perfectly well (somewhat surprisingly
)
