Was a resolution ever found for this?
I know this thread is a little old now but I've got someone who's encountering the exact same problem (same error message).

Thanks,
- Alec

Alec,

We didn't discover a resolution and were pressed for time, so we redid the customizations in the production system. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help.

Has anyone else ever figured out what this error means? I have a customer who has gotten this twice with two different Hotfix bundles for 7.52. They don't get it in their Dev environment, but they do in Production. The last time it happened, they restored their Dev project into Production to fix it. But right now, they have a lot of development that they're still testing out in Dev, so they can't do that at the moment. They finally got past the error, and got the bundle to apply, but now there is functionality that is throwing errors, so I don't think it applied correctly.

From what I can tell, this is a Windows error - as though it thinks a file is open when it's trying to save another copy of it. Could this be an antivirus sort of thing? Or something not configured right on that server? Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

It's not because the bundle is in a very long nested folder structure is it? If the file path is too long any xcopy type actions will struggle.

The bundle application function also looks at the last "built locally" version of the VFS and can throw errors if you are on a particular hotfix and try to add the next hotfix etc. before you have done a full REBUILD.

I would:

a) Move the bundle to the root of C:\ and try re-applying
b) ensure you have done a complete full REBUILD (not just a normal build), and try the bundle again.

Thanks Nick. Actually, I found the fix on the SalesLogix KnowledgeBase. The issue was with various nested files buried in the project model, with the extension of .$$$ - Once these were deleted, then the bundle installed just fine. But yes, I always tell my customers to rebuild, install, rebuild again. I also rebuild any time I do a backup. Just keeps things cleaner. Hope this helps someone else.
