We are trying a simple solution to create screen pops where our Toshiba call manager program sends a macro to look up a SLX contact by the phone number from the inbound caller ID. Is there an way to do this? Is there a URL that searches for a number or does SLX only search by the entity ID? Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to make your Page do the Lookup.

For example, add a Page called "Popup.aspx". From your application you would call it as follows "Popup.aspx?number=2123231212".

On that Page, do your own search (e.g. SQL, HQL, GetByProperties...), and then redirect the user to whichever view you want them to go (e.g. AccountDetail.aspx?entityId=A6UJ9A000001).
