Hi,

Does anyody know what is required to write a C# app that can utilise the SLX entity model? To explain the background a bit...I have a complicated business rule that I need to automate (lets say on a nightly basis). I would like to create a C# app to do the automation and call said business rule. It will probably run as a scheduled task/service.

Basically what references are required, and what needs to happen to get SLX database information etc.?

Please dont mention sdata  - been down that road and its not working well for business rules...

Many thanks,

Nick

have you considered SDATA .NET Client libraries. I am not sure what approach you have taken from an SDATA context. The latest Sage SalesLogix SDATA .NET Client libraries can be downloaded from https://github.com/SageSalesLogix/SDataCSharpClientLib , with regards to running the C# app as a job you can use  backgroundtasks from www.customerfx.com i.e. which can be downloaded from https://github.com/CustomerFX/SalesLogixBackgroundTasks

regards

Kannan

Thanks for the responses. We seem to have problems with sdata business rules when the business rules call other business rules...it seems to get very confused and just bomb out. The business rule I need to call is very complicated. If it wasnt I could just replicate it outside of the entity model but to do that will be a lot of work. What I really wanted was just an app, where I could loop through a set of opportunity interfaces and just call the BR in question...

Thanks,

NIck

Maybe I'm wrong, but you simply cannot take the Sage.Platform.dll out of IIS.

So there is no way you take a portion of the Sage stack out of SalesLogix.

We did some research about SLX dlls dependencies in order to create custom side portals; it appears that everything references, more or less, everything else.

No way you can get out with less than 110 dlls in your project. And you would still need the whole Services stack, which is IIS dependant.

In short, no, you can't. Forget about it.

But I hope I'm wrong.
