I am trying to create an unbound mainview (a la Import Lead).  I've tried to create a blank portal page, unchecked "Inherit Template?, configured the template to base.master, and added my smart part to the page main content and unchecked the "Show in Mode".

When the page opens, I see the form briefly then it dissapears.  Can anyone figure out if I'm missing something?

A portal page is the right choice (and no need to uncheck inherit template). I create those often. Your smart part is also unbound, right? It's not a quickform and not a custom smartpart that inherits from EntityBoundSmartPart, correct?
