grid not sorting

I have added a grid to my tab and in the Load Action I query the tables using SQL and bind that to the grid. Great, now I have some rows displayed. I set the EnableSorting to True and in the columns collections I set IsSortable to True and set the SortField for several columns. However when I click the header the rows disappear. I looked at several other tabs such as the AccountContacts and do not see anything I missed but I must be overlooking something. But what?
