When using Send Saleslogix for outlook, does SalesLogix need to be open? (not in front of SLX right now..). Thanks

This response is for SLX 6.2.6. I am not sure about any other version.

SalesLogix does not need to be open to use the SENDSLX button. However, the email will not be recorded into SalesLogix until an authentication from the users machine is made with SalesLogix database (host or remote).

My experience starting with 6.0 is that SLX is not required to be open but it is recommended to be open when clicking the Send SLX button.

The one big issue with not having it open is this.

When you do finally open SLX, you will be presented with a dialog for each email you used Send SLX. So if you clicked Send SLX 30 times without SLX open, you will get 30 dialogs to record the emails to SLX when you finally open it.

Strange - I never saw these prompts. I only saw prompts if the contact email address could not be located in SLX.

On the Option window, under the E-Mail tab, on the History Options section, the Log To History drop down has 2 options, Prompt and Do Not Prompt.

If you have it setup to Prompt, each email will be prompted, on hte Other hand, if you have it setup to Do not Prompt you can still check the options to be prompted for Duplicate Contacts or Contacts not Found.

Also remember that this settings are stored per User, so you need to make sure that the particular user you are working with has the desired options configured.

AH-ha, back to the basics. User templates make us forget these types of things. Good catch, Raul.

Between our posts Steve should now have the answer and configuration options he needs.

Hi

We are using v 6.2.4 and I have a more basic question. I have several users who do not see the send slx button in outlook. I've checked their lcoal settings and:

in outlook

- word is selected as the preferred email editor
- the slx options in advanced options/ add in manager are selected

in slx

- ms outlook/ exchange and automatically log onto email are selected in the outlook/ sync prefs/ email tab.

Hello Alan,

Please see this article for an optional fix:

http://www.slxdeveloper.com/page.aspx?action=viewarticle&articleid=94

Basically, two dlls (slmn.dll and slxab32.dll) are being re-registered. If you want to use the standard tool provided by Sage it is located C:\Program Files\SalesLogix\InstallOutlookIntegration.bat. Very basic stuff. It does not copy files needed and does not force applications to be closed. Also, it does not run with admin rights as the fix I mentioned above provides, which is necessary for this script to run (depending on your environment).
