Plugi-ins and Scripts unreleased sporadicallyYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

From the beginning of this week, my users are having an issue when plug-ins and scripts are being "MIA". So far I had them report that Contact Detail, Account Detail, SLX_Common, SLX_DatabaseSupport or other scripts are missing.
I have been dealing with an issue by re-releasing the plug-ins and have the users sync.
The reasons that were given me so far are:

1. Dev Environment's sync folders are interfiereing.
Our Dev is not using any sync servers or sync folders, so IMO there's a small chance that this is the case (but It may be, I am not sure, and that reason was given by a very knowledgeable person).

2. The sync files in Outgoing folders are out of sync.
I haven't still looked at that one yet, b/c honestly, I don't know what does that mean. Can someone elaborate please?
And could there be any other reason for such an odd system behavior?

Thanks in advance.

On #1, make sure your logging path doesn't match that of production. You can null it via a script, or just make a separate share for Dev. Otherwise you do indeed could contamine your Production environment with Changes from Dev that would be picked by the Sync Server as it parses changes.

On #2, there is an option on the Sync Server that says "Sequence Files before apply" that option forces the Clients to apply files in order. There are very few instances where I would modify this setting. If you have this selected, then it doesn't matter what order the files are in the folder, because that doesn't really mean anything, you can sort the folder in any way you want.

I have worked on many SLX Implementations with 2, 3 or 4 or more Parallel systems (Dev, DevQA (with Sync), UserQA (with Sync), Production (with Sync) and DailyProdBackup) and have never had any contamination from other systems by just making sure to have separate Logging paths

I have just checked - the Dev logging path is local to Dev machine.

This could also be a security related issue (ie for some reason the users do not have access to the plugins).

Do you have SLX Network users? Are they experiencing the same issue?

Are the plugins in question release to everyone?

The fact that you re-release the plugins and it fixes things leads me to believe that this is a security/release issud. On a remote that is experiencing the issue issue a SQL statement to look into the Remote's plugin table to see it the plugin is there.

Have you applied any bundles for the production database?

Feels like...
1. The plugins in the bundles were not released to everyone that needed them
2. An older version of a plugin got installed
3. Some plugins or include scripts got stepped on

Compare the plugins in the DEV and Production systems to see which plugins are active and who they are released to.

Will reapplying the bundle and making sure it's released to everyone do the trick?

No.

When you install a bundle the Bundle Manager offers you options to
1. update the releases of existing plugins (ie. release them with the same security settings)
2. release new plugins to Everyone, noone, or selected users/teams.

You will need to use the Architect to release the plugins.

Make sure you compare to the DEV environment to ensure you are releasing the proper version of the plugins -- Sort by decending date modified.
