Merge Bundle into Project

SLX7.2
Hi there - can anyone explain exactly what this feature does? Does it include everything that the Administrator 'Install Bundle' function includes (except for releasing plugins, adding the bundle to the bundle list in Administrator and adding the plugins to the project into which they are being merged)? What happens if a plugin already exists in the project - is it replaced?
Background: I have an 'initial release' project for a client installed in their dev environment. I have subsequently created a new 'module' (includes forms, picklists, fields) in my dev database and want this project to be part of their 'initial release' project. Merge Bundle into Project sounds very promising for this.
Cheers for any input Phil |

The scenario you mention is what the feature is for. It allows you to open a bundle and merge its contents into the currently opened project. Not sure what rules if follows, such as replacing a plugin that already exists in the project (although I believe it does). When you open bundle in the Architect it does essentially install those items into the database, jsust without the releasing steps etc. So the merge to project allows you to also associate these plugins into the current project as well. At least that is how I understand it. Does that help?

Thanks Ryan - since posting the question, I have used the functionality and it seems to work exactly as you describe and as I had hoped. And I can assure you that I don't say that very often!!
Where there are existing plugins in the project that are also in the bundle, but different versions, there can be some confusion though - after doing the merge, you need to look carefully at all of the actions in your project deleting any that are superseded. Then, for good measure, release the entire project to get everything in line.
