I contacted tech support - they said Vista Business Edition is supported, but sometime difficult to set up. They sent these steps to me:
How to configure Windows Vista to install SalesLogix 7.2
Entry Type: Informational
Product: Sage SalesLogix
Application: Administrator, Architect, SalesLogix Client

Version Reported: 7.2.x
Description:
How to configure Windows Vista to install SalesLogix 7.2.
Possible Resolution:
Installing SalesLogix applications on a Windows Vista system is similar to installations with other Microsoft operating systems with a couple of exceptions. Below are some precautions to avoid possible security problems. Full installation steps are included in the Implementation Guide, located on the install disc as well as SupportOnline.
Note: Due to enhanced security with Windows Vista it is easiest to install SalesLogix while logged on with local administrative rights and with User Account Control (UAC) turned off.
1. Open Control Panel.
2. Double-click User Accounts.
3. Click the Turn User Account Control on or off link.
4. Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer checkbox.
5. Click OK.
6. In the Microsoft Windows prompt window, click Restart Later.
7. From the Control Panel toolbar, in the address navigation field, click Control Panel.
8. Double-click Windows Firewall.
9. In the Windows Firewall window, click the Change Settings link.
10. In the Windows Firewall Settings window, on the General tab, click the Off (not recommended) radio button.
11. Click the Exceptions tab.
12. Click the Add port button.
13. In the Add a Port window, in the Name: field, type SalesLogix.
14. In the Port number: field, type 1706.
15. Ensure the TCP radio button is selected.
16. Click OK.
17. In the Windows Firewall Settings window, click Apply.
18. Click OK.
19. Close the Windows Firewall window.
20. Reboot the workstation.

I have not had to try it yet..

Hmm, seems to me that 10 & 13 are conflicting. You must turn off UAC but you shouldn't need to switch off f/wall (although I do anyway - much prefer a hardware based f/wall).

BUT if you have ANY custom code that uses ADO enumerations.. and you have not included the SLX database Support vbscript in that code you must:
A - Include it
or
B - Copy the ADO Enumerations from it and include them.

Vista does things different here.... from all previous versions of WIndows. A future SP will address this problem but for now you have to do it yourself!
