System lock down: Chinese wall
Posted: 14 May 08 9:58 AM
Hi
We would like to implement chinese wall type security within our SLX environment.
For example
Team1 to view all data contained in all records in the system irrespective of the visibility field setting
Team2 to view only the account names/contacts when account visibility is set to everyone. Where account visibility is set to 'Team2', the team to view all data captured against those records
Team3 to view only the account names/contacts when account visibility is set to everyone, as well as the notes for those records where the visibility is set to 'Team2'
THanks
Jody

You simply create teams and put people in those teams. The Owner of an account is then set to a team
1) Put those users in a team called "myCompany" - add that team to every other team
2) This happens by default
3) Put Team3 into Team2
Do not be tempted to use the Everyone team (as, it means everyone see it irrespective and have all rights over it - always best create a new team (perhaps the company name is the team name) and then assign permissions/roles etc. that way.

Just one quick thing to follow-up with what Mike said. Do NOT create a team called Everyone - you used to be able to and I do not know if they ever blocked it. But that did cause some issues in the past. Again, it might have been fixed but my best advice is just to avoid creating your own Everyone team.
