Cutting Remotes
Posted: 14 May 08 3:37 AM
Hi Guys,
I have a new laptop which as you can imagine has been a complete nightmare trying to reload everything but i finally think I have it completed. However, I am now unable to create remote databases from SLX admin. I am still able to cut from my old laptop and old SLX admin but not from the new laptop.
I have SQL server 2005 installed and have MSDE running..... Any ideas on what I could be missing?
Will appreciate any suggestions with this

I get an error message " Type of remote database has not been set"
At first I thought it was an error with the users sync rule but as I said, when I tried it from my old laptop it worked. I also tried it on more than one user.

Make sure the SQL 2005 "Native Client" components got installed.

Thanks for replying
I just checked my programs in control panel and the "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client" is installed
Do you think it would be worth me wacking the disc back in and seeing if I missed anything?

No.
Bring up the Connection Manager and make sure you are using the 'SQL Server Native Provider'.
Did you install all the same SalesLogix ServicePacks and HFs as you have on your all system?

Thanks to those who replied !!
I managed to find out what the problem was, in case anyone ever gets the same problem.
Within the SLX admin > Options > Database I had not specified the server directory to which the remote databases would be cut.
So basically the admin didnt know where stick the remote once it had been cut.
Anyway all working again now.... Thanks for the help !!
