Account screen - Restricitons on ownership change

fiogf49gjkf0d Can anyone explain what allows/disallows different userlogins to change the ownership on account.
Basically within the company only the admin user and one other are able to change account ownership, we need a couple other guys to be able to do this, but i can't figure out what needs to be changed in Administrator.
I have tried copying the settings from the account that can change but to no avail.
All ideas gratefully received, Thanks guys, |

fiogf49gjkf0d Keri,
We had the same issue here. The out-of-box security profiles don't provide this type of restriction on the Owner field.
To solve this issue, we created an additional field security profile called 'Team Owner Managers.' Field Security Profiles are managed in the Administrator. Select Field Security Profiles... from the Manage menu.
This 'Team Owner Managers' profile has Read/Write Access (the green check mark) to all field for all tables. We assigned the 'Team Owner Managers' field security profile to everyone we wanted to have the ability to change account ownership.
Next, we modified the 'Read/Write Default' field security profile. What we changed was the Account table field Accountmanagerid and Seccodeid to 'Read Only' (the glasses icon). For the Contact table we changed only the Accountmanagerid to 'Read Only'.
Now go to 'Teams', the icon on the left in the Administrator. Go through each team and change the users who need to be able to change account ownership to the 'Team Owner Managers' field security profile. For all others make sure they are assigned the 'Read Only Default' field security profile.
One note, we wanted to restrict users from also changing the account manager as well. So that is why we changed the Account and Contact accountmanagerid fields to Read Only in the Read Only Default field security profile. If you still want users in general to change the account manager as well, leave the accountmanagerid field to be Read/Write access in the 'Read Only Default' field security profile.
Hope this helps! John G. |

fiogf49gjkf0d All you need to do is go into Admin, go to teams and for the users you would like to be able to change the ownership of - make the user in that team the Team Owner Profile. This allows the user to change the ownership of the team. For example, if a user is in Teams A/B/C/D you can change their profile for Teams A/C/D to Team Owner Profile. Now, when this user logs in any accounts owned by Team A/C/D can be changed. If they change the owner to Team B then, in this example, they will immediately lose ability to change ownership (as they are not the Team Owner Profile). Once you have finished making changes in Admin have the user log out of SLX completely before testing (as this info is cached at the start)

fiogf49gjkf0d This isn't correct for 6.2 or >. Any user can change the ownership provided they have been granted Team Owner Profile (which are "out of the box" available - you don't need to create it). A change for v6 is the ability to have multiple users have the Team Owner Profile (previously, you could have only 1). |

fiogf49gjkf0d Ah, yes... this is correct out of the box for 6.2. Our issue here is that we wanted the added restriction of not being able to change the account manager. Its been so long since it was done.
