Releasing new Account Detail, Contact Detail and Opportunity Detail screen

fiogf49gjkf0d We moved to SalesLogix 6.2 a year ago but kept the legacy versions of the Account Detail, Contact Detail and Opportunity Detail screens.
Users previously had different versions of the account detail screen according to their job functions. We are just getting ready to release new Account Detail, Contact Detail and Opportunity Detail screens to our 200 users. Does anybody know a better way of releasing the form t the users other than going into Workgroup Administrator and setting the Detail view in the security settings by hand for each user? I know you can use copy profile and just specify to copy security. However, the security settings for allowing users to add/delete accounts etc vary from department to department. Does anybody know where in the database the detail view is specified for a user?
thanks

fiogf49gjkf0d Simple: Unrelease the old version, release the new one. As long as the screens are System: * Detail then SalesLogix should pick them up automatically.
If you're using a custom detail screen where you build x versions and then try to match each user to that version then yes you're going to have to go the Admin route. The rub in that though is that for each version upgrade you do, you have to repeat the process because it ties to a specific plugin version.
So it's better to make one generic Account Detail screen for instance, then by code hide or show panels based on what they should be using. Programmatically alter what they see is far easier than trying to manage multiple versions of the same basic structure. I dealt with that nightmare in Legacy land and I refuse to do it any more. Way too much of a hassle. |
