Gurus,

Has anyone out there had any experience with NT Authentication integration with SLX? Does it or how does it work with remotes?

Thanks,
Carla

It links up the SID (security ID) which is also stored in each user's profile on that computer. It doesn't screw up when a computer is off the network entirely, or have no network connection at all. You do have to worry about is adding SLXSystem to the Windows Firewall and setting it as a service. It's usually easier to get someone to restart a service than to find the application and run it.

There may be other minor quirks but what should happen in the event of failure is the old password screen will pop up. So if for instance you set a user up incorrectly they'll still be able to get in until they're corrected and the changes sync. I recommend it for anyone who can get away with it.

Hi Carla,

We've been using NT authentication for awhile now. The only issue we've had pop up here is when the Intellisync login pops up (for whatever reason) This is still tied to the SLX password you set in Admin. Many users forget what their 'original' SLX password was (we didn't use NT authentication before) so what I usually have to do in this case is change their SLX password to something and then they can log in to Intellisync.

Often, the users don't realize what the Intellisyn login is and will cancel. Then they wonder why their email is not working

Cannot agree with you more on this John...

Carla , is this a question about slx web ?? or are you talking about the network version?

if network , then we have windows single user signon - a thing which works the way Jeremy explained.. and if it is web , there is nothing like that i beleive..However duncan cook has made some alterations to his slx admin stuff and acheived something like a automatica web authentication...

My experience is that if you set a Pass expiration policy on SLX, even if the user get in with the NT authentication, he'll be asked to follow the SLX password policy, such as to change the "old legacy" pass.

And, obviously, the users will call you telling that they've already changed the (DOMAIN) password, or that they do not have any SLX password.

Therefore, if you want to use the NT authentication and you have to set an exipration policy, you have to switch all users to NT pass.

It should be nice, for NT authenticated users to bypass the SLX pass policy

Dave.
