SLX 6.2.4, Windows 2003 Server. SQL2k SP3a.

I've had a few machines that give the error "Database login failed: Failed
to connect to SLXServer. Check if server is running and is compatible with
the current provider version."

This has shown up on machines that were able to login. Sometime a reboot
resolved it. I thought it could be a firewall issue, but even disabling the
firewall doesn't resolve it. The server is running, both SQL and SLX server
service. It is using the correct provider version.

Are these remote users or network users? I am guessing remote since you say they are running SQL.

Can you access the database with SQL?

What Firewall software is running on the PCs? You need to make sure the SalesLogix EXE and DLL are know the the firewall software and that ports 1706 and 1707 are open.

Did you try to reinstall SalesLogix?

It could be Windows Security or Windows update related. Did you know if change were make or if update were pushed out?
