I have to believe I'm missing something simple, so I'll appologize for taking up your time right now. But... how do you delete the sample (base) templates provided by SalesLogix? The users don't want to see them in the list and I've tried just unreleasing them, but they just keep on comin'. Deleting them doesn't seem to be an option.

You can Right click and Delete from "Manage Templates" in Architect. For some reason the "Delete" button never becomes enabled on the toolbar, but rt. clicking seems to work for me in Architect 6.2.4.

I'm in 7 where it, sadly, doesn't seem to work that way. The Delete item on the pop-up menu is grayed out.

Delete the plugin from the plugin manager? Manage Templates in Architect or logged in as admin in the client SHOULD work, perhaps there's a reason it isn't? I don't want to call it a bug though it is entirely possible it is one.

I think the issue why you can't delete the plug-in is because it is set as Read-Ony. What I've found is that a plug-in must

* Not be released to anyone
* Have the Read-Only setting turned off

before it can be deleted. First, unrelease the plug-in. Then to turn off the plug-in read-only setting, highlight the template in question in the plug-in manager. Then right-click and select Properties from the pop-up menu. In the properties window uncheck the read-only check box.

After a refresh and rehighlighting the plug-in, the Delete icon in the toolbar should become enabled.

Although I can unrelease a template (it stays released to the developer) I can't change the read-only flag. When I uncheck the Read Only box and click OK, I get a dialog box that says "Invalid comany name". Since most of the templates that I'm trying to get rid of are supplied by SalesLogix (like "Blank") I'm assuming that SLX just doesn't want you to get rid of these. I guess my next strategy will be to turn those base templates into template usable by the client.

I really think your trying to walk down a slippery slope here...

Standard practice is to copy the SalesLogix Forms by "Save As" and rename the form in some order to be different from the SLX Forms.. This way when updates are applied it is easy to see where the differences are and take advantage of the changes they make to stock forms. We do the this and name our forms as C_AccountDetail or C_OpportunityDetail so we can easily pick our forms out.

Doesn't hurt the database or clutter your view in the architect by having the SalesLogix templates there, simpley unrelease them, release your own and in Architect set the manage plug-in grid to filter by Developer or company and you'll never see the SLX forms.

I'd really consider not trying to delete Stock forms, you'd might like to copy some code from them in the future also
