Run XP machine stand alone for demo

fiogf49gjkf0d I have set up an XP machine to run a v7 Demo - Everything works fine until you unplug it from the network. When unplugged, you cannot open the Sales Client getting an error that you don't have permission to the logging folders.
Against my better judgement, I took advantage of logging into an unsecure wireless network next door to my office - just to see if I could then get into the sales client. I could, so it doesn't seem to care what network it is logged into.
Is there a way around this? I am on the east coast and we are bringing the laptop to the midwest for a demo - I would hate my coworkers to get out there and not be able to run the demo.
Any intel on this would be great. SLX tech support wasn't aware of it. |

fiogf49gjkf0d What is the logging path in the Administrator for your database? I'd guess that you could just change that to a local path and you'd be set (I don't believe it will allow you to via the UI, you'd have to edit the entry in the database on the BRANCHOPTIONS table - or maybe it is SYSTEMINFO, can't remember), second best, make it a UNC path that points back to the local using either machine name or 127.0.0.1. |

fiogf49gjkf0d You need to: A - Create a c:\Temp w/Library, Documents, and WgLogs directories. B - BRANCHOPTIONS holds the ATTACHMENTPATH and the SALESLIBRARYPATH change them to point to c:\Temp\Library and c:\Temp\Documents C - SYNCSERVER holds the "logging path".. but you should NOT have one! if you do.. change the SERVERPATH to point to c:\Temp\WgLogs -- rjl |

fiogf49gjkf0d Could you instead create a remote user instead? This would be standalone and eliminate all the additional logging path work?
Also, take a look at SLX Doc ID #03010106 on setting up a test/demo environment.
Another option would be to use CITRIX - but that would require internet access.
