Strange mail merge error
Posted: 22 Jan 07 2:01 AM

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi all
When attempting a mail merge, several of our users have received an error.
What happens is the mail merge begins and a screen pops up to edit the template before printing. In the windows toolbar a word document opens called "DSOframer" which allows the user to edit the document (if necessary).
Closing this document causes (sometimes) the system to lock up and display an error message: "Access Violation at address 0b69fb83 in module 'SLXMMGUI.dll'. Read of Address 00000000."
This error appears sometimes, while other times the same mail merge does work without errors. I've tried the same mail merge ten times and was getting four errors.
I have already re-registered all mail merge DLL's and the SLXFramer.ocx, but the error still exists.
This error is driving me crazy... I can't find a solution. Because of this error we have to reset terminal sessions all the time (cause the whole session is locked).
Our environment: - SLX 6.2, SP5 (6.2.5.1042) - Office 2003, SP2 + all updates - SalesLogix client is running on Terminal Server (Win2k3) - DB-Server: MSSQL 2005 - Word is not the default e-mail editor in Outlook
I really don't know what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards, Fellmer |

fiogf49gjkf0d I did a search on access violation in SLXMMGUI.dll errors and I found this as a possible fix for a single machine having this problem. I am not sure about a Terminal Server environment though:
Description: SalesLogix stores temporary information in a local cache and in two registry keys that may be removed for troubleshooting machine specific issues. The cache information and registry keys are rebuilt automatically the next time the SalesLogix client is loaded.
Please note that before deleting any registry keys the registry should be backed up.
Possible Resolution: Log out of all SalesLogix applications Browse to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Software\SalesLogix\Cache Delete the contents of the CACHE folder Select Start / Run Enter 'regedit' (without the quotes) to open the Registry Editor Browse to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix Delete the following keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Clients HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Design Restart the machine and log into SalesLogix
