Strange Sales Client login error v6.1Your last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

Have a user that is unable to login the the Sales Client on her PC. Gives the RDA Invalid password error.

However she can login fine as any other user account. Also if I reset her password it won't accept it. If I remove her password, she can login but then gets all these invalid security type messages complaining about SECCODE SYST00000001.

And to further confuse things, all other PC's in the company can login using her account and password fine with no errors.

That leads me to believe its her PC but then why does it work if she logs in as another valid SalesLogix user (still logged on to network as herself)?

Also if I rename one of the other accounts she can log in as to her name, it doesn't work either. So this leads me to believe her name is corrupt within SalesLogix tables? But then why does it work if anyone else logs in as her on another PC?

Does anyone have any idea if there is a cache or anything that contains username/ip address combo info that would cause this problem? Or if thats even what the problem is?

Its a new and odd one to me!

Thanks in advance.

It has been a while since I worked with 6.1 but I know there were sometimes strange issues with the connection - one major reason it is recommended if at all possible to upgrade to 6.2 or better yet 7.0. That being said, it does sound like the PC. Have you tried removing the connection on that machine and resetting up the connection?

I do not understand what you mean by:

"Also if I rename one of the other accounts she can log in as to her name, it doesn't work either. So this leads me to believe her name is corrupt within SalesLogix tables? But then why does it work if anyone else logs in as her on another PC? "

What do you mean by renaming one of the other accounts?

Sorry, what I mean is one of the other SalesLogix user accounts. I.E. Joe's account works on her PC. If I rename Joe's SLX aaccount to Wendy, It won't work on her PC. If I rename it back to Joe, it works.

Thats whats odd. It almost like somewhere (either in the SQL database or connection cache (if there is such a thing)) the phrase Wendy is corrupted.

I have deleted her account and created a new one, same result. I have deleted the OLEDB connection and added it again, same result. Next stop maybe to reboot the SQL server and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks

It does sound like a machine dependant problem. You can try these steps to clear out the local cache on the machine:

Description:
SalesLogix stores temporary information in a local cache and in two registry
keys that may be removed for troubleshooting machine specific issues. The
cache information and registry keys are rebuilt automatically the next time
the SalesLogix client is loaded.

Please note that before deleting any registry keys the registry should be
backed up.

Possible Resolution:
Log out of all SalesLogix applications
Browse to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Software\SalesLogix\Cache
Delete the contents of the CACHE folder
Select Start / Run
Enter 'regedit' (without the quotes) to open the Registry Editor
Browse to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix
Delete the following keys

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Clients
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Design
Restart the machine and log into SalesLogix

Well I did as you suggested and it has worked. Didn't do the reg keys, just cleared the directory. Strange but at least its all better now.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Glad to hear the suggestion worked. By the way, I would still look at upgrading - there were several known issues with 6.1 and if at all possible you are better off moving up to 7.0 or at least 6.2.

I'll bring that up with management (about support ending). We have the 6.2 discs here but have not updated as yet. We were waiting for the network to be upgraded to Active Directory but now that is complete I will push for the SLX upgrade to be done.

Just a matter of building a test environment as we have a mainly customised installation of SalesLogix here but are steering back towards a more standard "out-of-the-box" version. At least for our mobile reps.

Thanks again

AD has nothing to do w/6.2. There is no AD "integration" in any version of SalesLogix. There IS Windows Integration.. but that is NOT Ad integration.

I'd also not be looking at 6.2 upgrade.. but 7.01 (v7 w/SP1) at this time. The effert to upgrade will be (almost) the same.
