Hello again!

Tried to send a .bat file (UNC Path) to a new folder on a remote. Got the folder, didn't get the .bat.

I need to create a SQL view on the remotes (I know; not "supported") and was using osql to execute. bat runs fine, just didn't make the trip.

Ideas?

Michael

If you are on v6.2.4 (SP4) or better, You CAN create a SQL view via the provider and get it to sync out

As RJ Ledger mentioned, you can, depending on version, execute a create statement via the provider and it will sync out, however, I've found it will choke on complex queries for create view statements if you're doing some funky stuff in your view.

An alternative is to create the view in a script that fires when a remote logs on to SLX. You can check SYSTEMINFO.DBTYPE, if it is a 2 then it is a remote. Then you can even write out the batch file commands to a file and execute it to create the views (also check to see if the view exists already first before you do it as well)

Agree Ryan.
I can choke.. I recommend one test it carefully first against a test using a tool like TOAD, ADO Explorer, etc. that can connect to the SalesLogix provider.

Certainly using the 2nd approach works as well.. and then there's the "SQL" type plugin that many have forgotten (and how to "invoke" it). I've used that plugin to "hold" the SQL Create statement, setup a vbscript to run (on Application LoginComplete) nased on db type (2 and 3), etc.. get the idea?
