I have recently installed a test environment to upgrade a database to 7.0.1. Since the planning guide suggests that SQL Server 2005 is supported, I decided to implement that upgrade as well. Everything works as planned (with a few minor modifications needed to deal with toolbars) except that I cannot create a remote user database. I cannot find any documentation on this, but does anyone know if I need to change anything to get this to work? The error message I get is:
Database creationfailed : The specified module could not be found

With 7.0 also I don't think SQL 2005 is still fully supported. You would have to install SLX admin along with MSDE and then can use SQL native drivers to cut the remote databases. You can find the procedure on support site or saleslogix newsgroups.

This is correct - SQL2005 is only supported in a host database environment. If you have remotes - you need to install MSDE on a sep. machine and cut them from there.

Got the instructions from SalesLogix Support. BTW, one thing to keep in mind, especially in a test environment is that you cannot install the SLX Server on the same machine as the SQL Server. (At least according to SLX Support).

??
There's no "rule" about that... In fact we encourage our clients to install the SalesLogix Server ON their SQL Server systems.

You want the SLX Server as close to the SQL db as possible. If it's on the SQL server than you get memory-to-memory transfers and NOT over the net transfers.. Remember, all of your users' data travels THRU the provider..BOTH ways..

Put it ON the SQL server.
