Unable to login, sporadically

fiogf49gjkf0d Apologies if there is a better Forum for this.
I have a problem since upgrading to SLX 6.2.6 logging in to the Windows Clients, but it seems to only be affecting my PC
I can login to the Sales Client after starting up the PC. If I then start Architect straight afterwards I get the error:
Database Login failed: Failed to connect to SLXServer. Check if server is running and is compatible with the current provider version
It is still running. But, if I look at the Data Link Properties, the Servers drop-down is OK, but there are no databases listed in the drop-down for the databases.
If I try again five minutes later, the database drop-down is populated and I can login OK to Architect
I'm sure it is something to do with SLXServer.exe and some type of time out, but this happens whether I have it running as a service or not. I have set the HKLM\SOFTWARE\SalesLogix\ShutdownDelay Registry Key to 0 for good measure as well. When the Server is not running as a Service, I have noticed that it sometimes closes down during the login process, which should be a clue. And when running as a Service, it sometimes closes down by itself, but not often.
Any ideas where I should be looking next?

fiogf49gjkf0d This may or may not help you as I have been working with this in an external website fashion.
I have noted that certain handshake errors will kill the service. Unfortunately, in my case, errors were not thrown to the event log, but only to the web page. Perhaps because you are on Network clients.. Check your Server and local event logs. You could build a quick web page that just returns a value from the db and see if it throws any errors to you.
Oh, one other thought - are other people accessing the same user/password to do other admin functions?

fiogf49gjkf0d Thanks for the ideas, I don't think the first section is relevent though. And it is only me accessing admin.
It is also strange that if I use Terminal Services to do the same things it works fine, it is only this PC
