Hi Guys

Saleslogix Client 6.1 and 6.2 cannot connect to the server due the below error show in event logs.

Source : SLXConnect::CSLXConnect
Description : An error occurred attempting to initialize security.
Init method returned : SalesLogix OLEDB Security - Open Connection [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied

Source : odbcdrv_connect
Description : Error in connection
SQL : (null)

This is one of those errors that usually means what it says.

Have you got other clients connecting successfully? Is SQL Server running? Does the Connection Manager connection work OK?

Have the connections suddenly stopped working, or have they never worked?

A - I hope you are not trying to run 6.1 and 6.2 fromm the same system.. it will never work. The "providers" are not compatable w/each other.
B - Did you make the server connection (to the db) using sysdba? It's the ONLY user that will work.
C - Did you make sure sysdba owns the db?
D - On the client in the datalink.. did you use a sSalesLogix user (ex: admin).. you must....

This is all SalesLogix 101.... ("Is it plugged in.. is it turned on...?")

Hi Bob,
The user has connected to server prior updating the windows latest release. However, I have disable the firewall setting. But I
still get this error. Sever users cannot connect to server due to upgrading the latest windows release.

It sounds like you have the MS TZ updates in the system but did not update SalesLogix.

Hi Bob,
Sorry for being late reply. How do I update Saleslogix as you suggest ? The version is Saleslogix 6.1 client.

v6.1 (A NON-Supported/retired version of SalesLogix) is NOT GMT aware so theh TZ issue is a non-issue.

FYI.. v6.1 and v6.2 cannot co-exist on the same system(s) and cannot cr0ss-connect - The provider was totally re-written for v6.2.
