Send SLX Button Disappears, re-appearsYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

SLX 6.2.6, all web users, Outlook 2003. The SalesLogix Mail Notification add-in is active. Sometimes the Send SLX button appears, sometimes it does not. It does not appear to be tied to wheter SLX is open or not, or having a contact with an email address displayed or not.

Suggestions?

One thing you could try is to re-register the two DLL's:
• Do a search for: SLXAB32.DLL & SLMN.DLL via WExplorer
• Run: REGSVR32 (dll path from search) for both dll’s.
• Reboot

I'm just confused why the button and toolbar would display and work one time, then not display the next time you are creating a new email. The Saleslogix tool bar was selected the first time, then de-selected the second time.

I'll try your suggestion.

Something else I do every time someone complains about this problem is to switch some of the options. Go to Tools --> Options --> Mail Format tab, and switch the setting labeled "Compose in this message format:" off of "HTML", and uncheck the box that says "Use Microsoft Word to edit email messages." These are a couple of settings that were listed in the past as being bad for Outlook integration. I think one of the settings doesn't matter anymore, but I can't remember which one. Either way, when I make those changes, I don't hear back from the user anymore about that problem.

Sage replied to my case and suggested creating a new toolbar in Outlook and put the Send SLX button on it. I'll try all of these and post what worked.

Customers have the customize option locked by the company, so we cannot create a new toolbar on the New message form and insert the Send SLX button.

SLX recommendations for related issues:

Unregister and register Dlls - no change.

Enable dlls - these were not listed in Outlook Disabled items.

Run repair on Outlook - not a good option for 250 business customers.

Disable Word as ail editor - not going to happen as a long-term solution.

Add SLX Add-ins - already done.

Any other suggestions?

It sounds like you don't like the plan for disabling word as the editor, but did you try it out? Whether or not it will work for the user longterm is irrelevant as to whether or not it's the problem. If it turns out to be the solution, then the user will have to decide between having a complex email editor or having the SendSLX button.

I have to agree with Jeff, turn off 'Use Word as the default email editor' and test. This has caused quite a few issues in the past.

You are not going to find a solution if that is the problem and you don't test the theory. You'll be wasting time running around looking for other answers. If that is the issue and turning it off is not an option then you can only explain this fact to the users. Bottom line is there are business needs to be met and some technical decision is blocking that need.

Agreed, with everything in this post... Now that a new version is here, I was hoping the issue may improve. But, we still get this in v7.2. Yes, disabling Word as the email editor "resolves" the button issue, but creates it's own limitations for the user group. Has anyone seen a workaround or better solution in v7.2?
