Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes...

I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with TAPI when integrated with SLX. We have a large SLX deployment on Windows XP and are finding that the buttons used for initiating a phone call are very hit or miss. Sometimes they will work for a while and just stop. Sometimes I can't get them to ever work even after swapping machines, etc. I have verified all Windows XP TAPI configurations are correct, .NET is correct, and I can initiate a call through dialer.exe in Windows, but there seems to be some issue with integrating SLX and the WinXP dialing capabilities. Has anyone else seen this?

TIA

May I ask what telephone system you are trying to integrate with?

Not intended as a shameless plug (honest), however we do have a great deal of experience with telephony integration and provide an approved alternative solution for integration of CTI with SalesLogix.

Our product "intelliCTi" acts as a middleware component, and takes charge of integrating with the various oddities of TAPI systems.
Likely the cause of your current issues.

If this is perhaps of interest, then please find more information here:
http://www.qgatesoftware.com/intelli-cti-for-saleslogix.html

In addition, we can happily provide you an evaluation of the product via your Slx business partner.

Hope this helps.

Sorry Geode, just realised you are a SalesLogix BP - still very happy to provide you a product evaluation.

We run an NEC phone system. Again, TAPI works through the operating system, so I think the integration with the phones is working. It seems to be more of an issue with the integration of SLX with TAPI itself. Just my thought.

With the greatest respect to the SLX dialler, its design is a one-size fits all...
However from our lengthy experiences with TAPI, TAPI is not so much a protocol standard, but more of a vocab.
Unfortunately each telephony vendor will take the vocab of TAPI and interpret it in their very own unique way...!

That said, you say the Windows dialler is working OK. Sounds like an issue with the Slx Dialler not being generic enough.

As previously mentioned, if you'd like to try out our stuff you are very welcome...
