SLX 6.2.0 Lookup ResultsYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

We are currently running 6.2.0 in our production environment (yeah I know, I just haven't gotten around to applying the SP's yet)... One of my users asked me about the Lookup Results group - here's the situation:

The user will do an Account or Contact lookup (for example from the black bar at the top of the Account Detail view) and then select the matching account from the list presented in the search. When they double-click the account in the results, it creates a group called Lookup Results containing only that account record. The user then had to switch back to whatever group they were in previously when they're done with that account.

What they would like to have happen is this:
When they do a search within a group (let's assume for this example that Tools|Options|Lookups&Groups|Within Current Group is checked so that searches only happen in the active group) and select an account, the Account main view will switch to that record, but the current group will remain the active group, instead of having the Lookup Results group created.

I seem to remember in previous versions of SLX that there was an option to do exactly that, but either it's no longer an option in 6.2 or I need to run CHKDSK /F on my brain Does anyone know of a way to work around this? Thanks in advance!

Ok so it seems that the problem exists in 6.2.4 also... does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to work around this issue? I'm stumped.

John,
I'm looking into a similar issue of controlling what happens when a lookup is selected and I also have had no replies, have you figured out a work around for any of this, or have the users just gotten used to it?

Thanks,

I'm going to venture out and say no, I don't think this would work. The group you are on represents the records you have loaded on your system. The highlighted record on the list view and the record you have chosen on the detail view are the same thing - the two views are not disconnected. If you want to look at the details of the record, then, it would have to be in the list of records you have active on your computer. I have seen it work sometimes where I searched for a record that happened to be in the current list, so instead of taking me to the Lookup Results, I just stayed in that list.

So, I guess the answer to your question might be "Yes," if your user has the group "All Accounts" pulled up.
