In Global Join Manager we already have a global join in our database with the following format:

Parent table = userinfo
Parent field = userid
Child Table = *
Child Field = modifyuser
Type = inner
Cascade = replace
Visibility = allow

I wish to create another join which is similar to the above but with a different join field. However I can not enter an * in the child table (when editing the existing join the parent and child tables are greyed out and in the child table is displaying 'Any Table'). Can anyone tell me how to achieve the above without creating a local join.

I tried opening one of those fancy "*" joins, and table listed is "Any Table." I tried to add a new table and look through the list of tables, but that really neat "Any Table" was nowhere to be found. Your best bet is to do this manually with an insert statement - but beware, the "Any Table" thing seems like a powerful function, and it might cause weirdness in your system.

I know the joins table is a table you'll want to create a record in, but I don't know about any other tables. I would check in the joins table to see how SalesLogix records the "Any Table" or "*" in it, and then I would also run the profiler at the same time you create a test join to see what else you might need to do to create a join manually, and then build the statement yourself.

If this seems at all iffy to you, contact a business partner and they should be able to assist you with this properly.
