sync rules question
Posted: 16 Apr 08 9:09 AM

Lets say we have 5 teams. For simplicity sake we will call them Team A - E. A Sales Rep has territory A on his remote. He now says he needs 18 accounts that are spread out over the other 4 teams. He doesn't want all of the accounts from the other 4 teams just the 18 accounts and the accounts can't be reassigned to him. I have tried several combinations of subscription rules and unsubscribe rules and even talked to SLX support. I can't do anything but give him all of the accounts on all 5 teams. Does anyone know if this is possible or do you have any suggestions? |

I'm pretty sure that you cannot create rules for indivdual accounts. I would imagine that all 18 accounts would need to have 1 or more values the same i.e account manager / industry etc. If the account manager was the same for all 18 accounts but were not assigned to him then change the accountmangerid to equal the other account manager in the rule. He would also need to belong to all 5 teams within the admin.
Sorry if thats not much help |

So I presume that you have the account owners (SeccodeId) set to the team? In this case you're not going to be able to sync the account out to the remote because the application is making sure that those users don't see accounts that are not owned by their team. You would have to change your account ownership so that the remote users have access to all accounts (add them to all five teams) and unsubscribe the remotes to the accounts that they shouldn't see (all new accounts except those 18).
I would add all the remote users to all the teams where they might need an account and then unsubscribe them with an unsubscribe rule.
So then make an unsubscribe rule for Team A, B C, etc..
This will be a lot of work , sorry. |

When you create the remote you build the data for the rules at the time. If you subsequently alter team ownership then he will not get those automatically. However, he will have access (they just won't be on the remote). So - the full procedure is this:
Grant permissions for this user on the team create a subscription rule to subscribe him to the 18 accounts (pick by ID).
They will then flow to the remote (without the rest of Team A-E accounts as you desired). Or, you can dispense with the sub rule and, after granting access, have him go to File | Subscription - select All and have him pick the 18 accounts manually - after 2 syncs those accounts will be there (once to request, once to send) Or, you can force them on him anyway - in Admin, pick his account, under sync, pick subscription, find all accounts, find the 18 and select Resend
