---- Edit -- Problem Fixed ---
A Microsoft update changed some "smb signing" registry setting that was disabled. This made the file shares unaccessible. Once my Network Admin changed that registry setting, it worked.
It was an MS article 839499

Wow -- what a pain.

------ Below is fixed -----------------

Hello,
I've searched all day for a resolution to this problem. When users try to log into the Sales Client, they get this message:

"LoggingServer does not have access to the specified logging path. Please contact your system administrator."

We have version 6.1. We have not touched the SLX server in a LONG time -- so there is no "latest update" that might've changed something. I'm the only one who administers SLX, so I know we haven't done anything lately.

I talked with the two who manage the actual server SLX is on and the only thing they did was install ESET antivirus software last night (SLX worked yesterday). So they uninstalled ESET today to see if SLX would work, but it didn't help.

We have two different SLX setups. One of them works and the other does not. The one that does not work, has a synchronization server license. The other does not. I have no idea WHY we have a Synchronization license when we have no remote users or remote offices. We have no need to sync. And I have no idea how to disable the sync server or uninstall it. All documentation I have read says to open "Synchronization Server." I've never seen this program. Looking at the Windows server services, there is only the SLX Server and SLX OLEDB services. The guy who manages that said that was all there EVER was. There has never been any sort of sync service on there.

Of course, we checked out all the permissions on the sync log folders and the SLXService user has full control on all of them. I did notice that the WGLogs folder had over 35,000 files for a total of 1.25 GB. So I thought that might be a little much and moved about 8,000 of those files to a different folder and tried again. Still didn't work.

In that WGLogs folder, all the files had the same extension except one. The other had an 0000XUJ9 extension. That was the last file that was modified and it was updated around 5:00PM yesterday. (could be the last time SLX worked) So I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I temporarily moved that file out and tried it again, but nothing.

So I made a totally knew shared folder for the sync logs and went into Administrator to change the logging path to the new location. I gave the SLXservice user full control and made the Library and Documents folders. Then I tried to log into the Client. As soon as I tried, the Archive, WGLogs, and SharedLogs folder automatically were created, but it gave me the same error.

I'm sure I did other things that I didn't mention, but now I'm stuck. I'm hoping one of you can help a guy trying to get out of here on a nice Friday afternoon....
