I am trying to straighten out a mess in a client's sync process. They have slx 6.2.3 on SQL2K with around 20 remote users and 5 network users. There are nearly 300,000 files in the Outfiles folder; 22,000 in the Documents folder; and 170,000 in the Archives folder.

Errors such as those below appear repeatedly in the SyncErrors.txt file.

Type 1
[5/4/2009 8:31:08 AM] The incoming file D:\SLX_Logs\Infiles\ZIP-CMD8ORZ-A300085.1P2Y appears to be corrupt.

[5/4/2009 8:31:09 AM] The incoming file D:\SLX_Logs\Infiles\ZIP-FILEBEVRA40008W.1P2Y appears to be corrupt.

Type 3
[5/4/2009 8:31:10 AM] Unable to delete file: D:\SLX_Logs\Archives\ZIP-1P2Y-A4002BZ.DEM8
[5/4/2009 8:31:10 AM] System Error Message: The system cannot find the file specified
[5/4/2009 8:31:10 AM] Unable to delete file: D:\SLX_Logs\Archives\ZIP-1P2Y-A4002CC.DEM8
[5/4/2009 8:31:10 AM] System Error Message: The system cannot find the file specified

Type 3
[5/4/2009 8:31:13 AM] Unable to move/rename attached file \Documents\AttachTemp\FILE3BTRA4002DR.1P2Y
to \Documents\!Q3BTRA4002DQRE 01-24-2009-11-05-37-AM.htm

I'm guessing that each of the three types of errors will require its own trouble shooting method -- but where to start? They are going to migrate the entire system to new servers soon. I need to find a way to get rid of hundred of thousand of files.

I know this doesn't give anyone much to work on. But, I'm sure you know better than I what questions to ask in order to make a start.

Thanks.

As far as the remote users are concerned, does sync work for any of them? If yes, what is the nature of the problems which are being experienced? If not, has it ever worked? When did it stop? You can see where I'm going with this ...

Please log in to Administrator and select Systems / Offices and open the host office - hopefully a single row with 'No' in the Remote? column.

From the Shared Paths section, please post the contents of the Logging, Sales Library and Attachments paths.

Phil,

Thanks for your questions. Here are the answers as best as I can tell.

As far as the remote users are concerned, does sync work for any of them? -- Right now I have three users complaining. I suspect there are more but they don't know it.

If yes, what is the nature of the problems which are being experienced? -- From this morning, one user got "ZIP-FILEA0362QP.SCTH Failed to receive file." This file was created on 5/1 in Outfiles. The user has sync'd at least two times since then. But, as you can see by my first post, there are a multitude of errors overall.

Has it ever worked? -- Apparently it did at some unknown point in the past. No one here seems to know.

Please log in to Administrator and select Systems / Offices and open the host office -- Yes, there is only a single line with No in the Remote field.

please post the contents of the Logging, Sales Library and Attachments paths

Logging: \\\SLX_Logs\
Library: \\\SLX_Logs\Library
Documents: \\\SLX_Logs\Documents

Shouldn't the Outfiles folder contents be deleted as they are posted to the remotes? I can't even open the folder in explorer any more. I've gone back to dos.

BTW, the Infiles folder is pretty clean -- only about a dozen files left over from between 8/2006 and 11/2008. Is it safe to delete these?

Thanks again.

The paths in the prior post should have been...

Logging: \\[server name]\SLX_Logs\
Library: \\[server name]\SLX_Logs\Library
Documents: \\[server name]\SLX_Logs\Documents

Sorry.
