fiogf49gjkf0d Our sync server stopped working while trying to send new accouts to remotes. It says "A trapped exception occurred: An unknown or internal error has occurred".
I cleared all the Outfiles files and Archives folder to delete all the old sync server files.
Any ideas?????? |

Did you run out of space on the c drive? Writecache lives there... and it can get very big during a sync cycle. We run all clients on a 15 minute cycle to prevent this. -- rjl |

I cleared the Writecache folder. My sync server sync evey 1/2 hr. I have around 128 remote users. I changed the number of maximum accounts to 20 and it seems to be working. I am just concerened if that will cause prroblems in future...Do you think i shoul dconsider getting a new sync server ??? |

You do not need a new sync server. However, you will probably now have to cut all new remote databases since you deleted the contents of the Outfiles and Archives folders.
Look on a few of the remotes at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SalesLogix\Sync\SyncStatus.txt. You might notice that towards the end of the most recent sync completed by the remote it will show the date, time and say something about a file is missing and a request has been sent to the sync server for the missing file. For each file that was deleted for a remote user in the Outfiles/Archives directories on the Sync Server there will be one sync cycle by the remote to request that file. And since the file will not be in the Outfiles or the Archives directory since you deleted the Outfiles and Archives the remote will not be able to obtain that file and will not be in "sync" anymore. Therefore, it will be time for a new remote database. |

You need to: a - have a very large "C" drive (or take a look at the article on SalesLogix support on how to put the WriteCache (and othere SalesLogix folders) on another very large drive). b - run sync very often to keep writecache from having to use so much space.. we run all of our clients at 15minute sync cycles on teh sync server(s).
By clearing the Writecache you have lost transactions forever (both to/from remotes). Deleteing the contents of the WriteCache on a failed sync is something someone should never do...
You will probably get complaints of data on remotes that is not in the main.. and data on teh main that is not in remotes.
The "easy" fix for a failed sync is to: a - shut down sync service b - run sync manually w/a custom setup -- rjl |
