One of our departments claim they have been inserting URLs into the attachments tab for months in the format \\myserver\myshare\folder1 and it has been working until after the upgrade from 6.2.2 to 6.2.6. Now it gives a page cannot be displayed message because it prefaces the path with http:// I looked at the attachment table and 54 in this format has been entered over the last few months. Can anyone confirm this?

This is what I got back from SLX support...

I do apologize for the confusion. This function was changed in 6.2.6. The two functions of Attachments are to link to URLs and Attach files. Linking to a Shared path was never an intended function and was addressed in Service Pack 6.

Someone is always sticking their finger in my cake!

If I were you I would not accept "...never an intended function and was addressed in Service Pack 6..."
AFAIK NOBODY ever complaigned this was a problem.. in fact many people used it. The change in SP6 has "broken a lot of implementations out there.

Call tech support back and register a formal complaint that "their fix" had broken your system.

That is not a bad idea. Not sure if it would do any good at all but might be worth a try.

At the very least it would look good for me in the eyes of the managers!

There was a similar discussion that went on in the SLX BP newsgroups. Someone had the idea to create a shortcut and then attach the shortcut .lnk file to SLX. Not a bad idea. You can even create the shortcut file programatically if it makes it any less painful.

Set shell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Set link = shell.CreateShortcut("C:\Documents and Settings\Ryan\Desktop\My
Notepad Shortcut.lnk")
link.TargetPath = "c:\windows\notepad.exe"
link.WindowStyle = 1
link.Hotkey = "CTRL+SHIFT+N"
link.Description = "Notepad Shortcut"
link.Save

Anyway, thought I would share the idea here. Not sure if it will help or not. I agree with Bob. Whether it was ever intended to be used that way or not, they broke this for a lot of companies that used it this way. Too bad.

I ran into this as well and discussed it in the BP newsgroup. Support informed me that since it was never intended to be a feature (even though they had gone out of their way to use the appropriate icon depending on what you were attaching) and was dropped.

Idea: Let's make our product less feature rich!

I think that they did the fix "by mistake" and are not giving the BS answer to cover the mistake. Hehe.
